The Denver Broncos are preparing for the worst conditions in a crucial Sunday Night Football matchup with the Washington Commanders.
Broncos head coach Sean Payton discussed the weather conditions on Wednesday during his media availability, as well as Denver's participation in the NFL's league-wide My Cause, My Cleats initiative.

Making sure we understand the field conditions. We’ll do wet ball drills. We’ll do a lot of that. Temperature is similar. It’ll be a little colder there... I can recall playing games there when it was raining, cold, almost that borderline like, ‘Why isn’t it snowing? It’s so cold, but it’s raining.’ Like an hour later, it might be snowing."
Quarterback Bo Nix spoke about the possibility of the weather affecting play, albeit with a more laissez-faire attitude. "I think it’s just trying not to think about it," said Nix. "The weather’s going to be the weather no matter what; there’s going to be nothing you can really do about it."
Denver has already had one game thus far where the weather has made an impact in Week 10 against the Las Vegas Raiders. The wind was the biggest factor in the Broncos' 10-7 win, affecting punter Jeremy Crawshaw significantly.
Nix wants the game to be all about the basics, not the conditions. "So play the play as it is called in and do your best to handle the elements, and if it’s cold, then handle the cold elements," Nix said. "If it’s raining, then handle the rain. But all we can focus on is just operating one play at a time, and usually there’s a way even with the elements to figure it out and play.”

Sunday's game (6:20 p.m. MT) will be nationally televised on NBC. The Broncos are considered big favorites despite playing on the road.
