December PlayStation Plus departures have been popping up left and right, and two more have just joined the chopping block. The succession of games leaving the service started with the reveal of titles like Grand Theft Auto 3 and Sonic Frontiers, and earlier this week, an updated store page revealed that the emotional war tale 11-11 Memories Retold would be leaving.
The latest update to the Last Chance to Play page has now added Touhou Genso Rondo: Bullet Ballet and River City Melee Mach!!, as spotted by Reddit user TioZer0. These additions bring the total number of December departures to 12. All of these titles will be leaving on December 16, so there's still time to play through any priorities.
PlayStation Plus Is Removing Another Two Games
The Bloodbath Continues
Touhou Genso Rondo and River City Melee Mach!! aren't the most famous games in the Last Chance to Play section, but they both appeal to specific niches. Touhou Genso Rondo blends the bullet hull action of the mainline Touhou series with fighting game elements, resulting in a totally unique experience. Like many Touhou spin-offs, it's actually a fan-made game, which Touhou creator ZUN officially allows to be sold for a profit.
River City Melee Mach!!, meanwhile, is a throwback brawler attached to the classic River City series. As a blend of beat-em'-up action and the battle royale spirit of something like Super Smash Bros., there's a lot of straightforward fun to be had here. If you miss it on PS Plus, it's currently on sale for under 5 dollars on various digital storefronts.
December 16 Is A Bad Day For PS Plus Users
A Sad Start To The Holidays
Even if Touhou Genso Rondo and River City Melee Mach!! aren't up your alley, the odds are that something leaving PlayStation Plus on December 16 is. The full list of games exiting the service is as follows:
- Battlefield 2042
- Grand Theft Auto 3
- Arcade Paradise VR
- Sonic Frontiers
- Forspoken
- Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy's Edge
- Firefighting Simulator: The Squad
- Surviving Mars
- Star Trek Bridge Crew
- Touhou Genso Rondo: Bullet Ballet
- Ricver City Melee Mach!!
- 11-11 Memories Retold
Of course, some new games will also show up this month. PlayStation has already revealed the slate of monthly Essential titles, including some fun options like Lego Horizon Adventures and the breakout indie FPS Neon White.
News on more long-term Game Catalog additions probably won't come for another couple of weeks, as PlayStation Plus tends to reserve those announcements for the second or third week of the month. Hopefully, December's new titles will be exciting enough to ease the pain of all the departures.
