Kevin Bacon has entertained fans across genres. From movies like Footloose, A Few Good Men, and The Toxic Avenger to series like The Bondsman and Sirens, the actor has portrayed an array of intriguing and relatable characters. As brilliant as he is as a leading man, the star shines even brighter in more menacing roles, like in Trapped and The River Wild. But one of his most chilling performances comes in the sci-fi horror film Hollow Man, which just got more accessible.
Hollow Man has found a new streaming home at Netflix, per ComicBook. The Paul Verhoeven-directed movie has awesome visual effects, a story based on The Invisible Man, and Bacon’s chilling performance that keeps fans on the edge of their seats. It follows a mad scientist, Sebastian Caine (Bacon), who develops an invisibility serum for the military and volunteers to be its first human test subject. Things take a turn after the trial, when his fellow scientists are unable to restore him to normal, and he increasingly becomes unstable, eventually going on a killing spree.
Bacon’s portrayal of Sebastian’s descent into madness was praised by fans and critics alike. However, the film received mixed reactions overall, with critics giving it a 25% Rotten Tomatoes rating. Nonetheless, it proved to be a box office hit, earning $190.2 million worldwide. It bagged an Oscar nomination in the Best Visual Effects category. Along with Bacon, the cast includes Elisabeth Shue as Linda, Josh Brolin as Dr. Matt, Kim Dickens as Dr. Sarah, and Greg Grunberg as Carter.
What Else Is Kevin Bacon In?
The actor will be next seen in the rom-com The Best You Can, where he stars opposite his real wife Kyra Sedgwick. Directed by Michael J. Weithorn, the movie premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. Earlier this year, Bacon also starred in Prime Video’s The Bondsman, which sees him in a Supernatural-style action-horror series. The show follows Hub (Bacon), who comes back from the dead with an unexpected second chance at life and love, only to find that this time he’s hunting demons. Bacon carries the action-packed series with a tortured and gruff portrayal of Hub. The Grainger David-created series is quite fun, with creative supernatural entities and a deep dive into hell. It has earned an 84% Rotten Tomatoes rating from the critics.
Hollow Man is streaming on Netflix. You can also check out The Bondsman on Prime Video. Stay tuned to Collider for more such updates.
