As a bold new era begins for the Hulk, the new version of the Green Goliath has a terrifying power we've never seen before. Not only is this an ability Bruce Banner couldn't wield - it has apocalyptic implications for the entire Marvel Universe.
The Infernal Hulk Can Summon the Marvel Universe's Darkest Monsters
A split Hulk smiles in THE INFERNAL HULK
In this week's Infernal Hulk #4 - from Phillip Kennedy Johnson, Nic Klein, Matthew Wilson and Cory Petit - the Infernal Hulk makes its terrifying debut. Not only is this Hulk stronger than most gods, it can also transform its victims, causing them to be possessed by ancient monsters and reborn in powerful new forms.

Faced with a group of soldiers, the monstrous Hulk grabs war hero David Bridger and binds him in barbed wire. Rapidly corrupted, Bridger is transformed into "Jinni Dagaal, the War Devil."

From there, the Infernal Hulk grabs various soldiers and crushes them, causing them to warp into a zombie army, with Bridger taking over command as Hulk's thrall. Finally, the Infernal Hulk raises up a demonic city known as Gologolthia, declaring, "Your kingdom has its capital, children, and your king summons you. Rise."
Marvel's Age of Monsters Has Officially Begun
The Internal Hulk is the latest form of Eldest - a demonic being which is the direct offspring of the elder god known as the Mother of Horrors, aka Vinruviel. Over the course of Incredible Hulk Volume 6, Eldest trapped Hulk and stole his body, leaving Bruce Banner without his usual powers.
Needing a source of strength, Eldest then cannibalized Vinruviel, who is the original source of gamma. But alongside gigantic muscles, it seems Eldest gained another power from eating her mother: dominion over the Earth's monsters, and the ability to imbue them into human form.

Marvel has teased that the Infernal Hulk's endgame is to begin a new Age of Monsters, and it's now clear how that will work. The Infernal Hulk will travel the globe, searching out candidates to rebirth the greatest monsters who have ever lived. Thankfully, the issue shows that the Avengers are aware of the threat, but given the incredible power of Hulk's growing monster army, they may already be too late.
Bruce Banner's Hulk has always been seen as a monster, but the Infernal Hulk is finally making that a reality. The Earth is about to learn what it means to go up against real monsters, and it seems that by the end, they'll be begging for Bruce Banner's Hulk to return.
The Infernal Hulk #1 is available now from Marvel Comics.
