Summary
- 'Sidelined 2: Intercepted' deepens Drayton and Dallas' romance while injury, self-doubt and distance test whether they can make it last.
- Noah Beck was happy to get the opportunity to return for a sequel, and fan edits and his athletic past helped inform Drayton.
- Highlights of the shoot included line‑dancing, car make-out bloopers, and an inspirational locker room speech.
Based on the Wattpad sensation The QB Bad Boy and Me by Tay Marley, Sidelined 2: Intercepted, the sequel to Tubi’s #1 film, continues to tell the story of quarterback Drayton (Noah Beck) and dancer Dallas (Siena Agudong) as they figure out how to handle the pressures and distance between them. An injury that prevents Drayton from taking the field and self-doubt that makes Dallas indecisive about her future leads to tension that makes them question everything, including their relationship. Feeling like they must decide between following their dreams or prioritizing their romance leaves them both torn and wondering whether they can have it all.
During this one-on-one interview with Collider, Beck discussed how surreal the success of the first film was, the surprise of getting to do a sequel, what he learned from watching TikTok fan edits of Drayton and Dallas, whether he’d had any previous experience with line-dancing, the fun he and co-star Agudong had shooting the make-out scene in the car, getting the big fight scene right, his love of inspirational sports movies, and why he thinks there needs to be a Sidelined 3.
Getting to Play Drayton Again for ‘Sidelined 2: Intercepted’ Was a Surreal Dream for Noah Beck
"I got to go back to a character that I hold so close to my heart."
Collider: How did it feel to learn that the first movie became the number one movie on Tubi, which then led to this sequel? Had there always been talk of a possible sequel?
NOAH BECK: Not that I was aware of. To be honest, it was pretty surreal when we found out that we were greenlit for another one. I would assume that’s any actor’s dream, to come back to a character and to be able to continue that story. I’m very blessed to say, for my first movie, that I got to go back to a character that I hold so close to my heart. It was pretty surreal, and I was very excited that we got to do it all again.
It’s probably an actor’s dream if you want to play the character again. If you don’t, it’s probably a nightmare.
BECK: Exactly. If you had a good experience with it.

Posts By Ryan O'Rourke Nov 15, 2025What was it like to see all the fan edits of your characters after you did the first movie? Did you learn anything about how people saw the characters or what they most liked about them that you then carried to the sequel?
BECK: You know, that’s an interesting question because there were things that people were editing from the first one. Whether it was from the comments that you see on TikTok, or whatever it may be, I love constructive, not even criticism, but just [comments] in any form. I love learning when and where I can add something or take something away. In the comments, I would see stuff about, “I love how Drayton was X, Y and Z.” When playing it, I wasn’t too attentive to that but then carried it to the second one. I made sure to have little underlying odes to that. I pulled some stuff from the comments and leaned into what was working. I’m also super critical of myself, so I’d watch the first one, and coming at it from an athletic background, I watched it like I watched tape. I would see little things in my performance that I could tweak for the second, and I hope I did.
Because you guys don’t get to spend a lot of time having fun together before things get a bit strained between Drayton and Dallas, it was fun to see them line-dancing together. Had you done much line-dancing prior to this?
BECK: Funny enough, growing up in Arizona, I’m not going to sit here and say that I used to dance all the time growing up, but it was definitely part of the culture of growing up in Arizona. There were country bars that I didn’t go to as a kid because you have to be 21, but when I came back home to visit from college or whatnot, my friends and I would go to those bars. But to be fair, I did not have a ton of experience prior to doing that, so it was really fun to learn that on set and to do that with Siena [Agudong]. I remember that night so vividly, when we shot that scene. It was a good time. There was a lot of just letting the camera roll and having fun. After watching it, I’m happy with what they chose because when we let loose, those were the best takes.
Noah Beck Says There Must Be Some Bloopers From the ‘Sidelined 2: Intercepted’ Car Make-Out Scene
"That was a fun scene to film."

There’s a funny moment in the car when Drayton and Dallas are making out and then decide to get in the backseat together, and the cop knocks on the window. What was that like to shoot? I’m always curious about the logistics of shooting car scenes and how much time you have to spend in there, and how you can even move in such a confined space.
BECK: It did require some choreography, I will say. Going from the front seat to the back seat, I can imagine there are some funny outtakes for that specific scene. That being said, it was also a bit of an obstacle because my leg was post injury, so I had to figure out how to keep my leg straight in that brace while maneuvering to the back. I remember vividly that there were times when I maybe kicked Siena, or maybe my foot hit the steering wheel the horn went off. There are some funny bloopers from that scene, but that was a fun scene to film.
It feels like that was one of those scenes that it would be hard not to crack up in.
BECK: A hundred percent. But also, it would be funny in character or not. Whether it was Noah laughing or Drayton laughing, it was still funny. It was like, “What are we doing? We’re making out in a car.” It added to it.

Siena Agudong also talks about how hard she worked on pulling off her final dance audition scene and adding a personal touch to it.
Posts By Christina Radish Nov 30, 2024Drayton misses Dallas’ show and it leads to this big fight between them. He even implies that maybe he wouldn’t have gotten injured without her. How hard was that to shoot? What are the biggest challenges in getting a scene like that right?
BECK: I remember that scene and that night pretty vividly, where it was similar to the first one when we had to break up. It’s not an easy thing to do, to go from loving someone and having so much fun with them on set and doing all that. I remember in the first one, the breakup scene was one of the first scenes that we shot on the day. It was 6am, and I was like, “I have to break up with someone at 6am? This sucks.” You just work your way into it. But because this one was at night, we had a lot of time to feel it out. I remember talking to Siena about it beforehand, about where we wanted to push it and where we wanted to ground it. It’s more matter of fact that this isn’t working, without trying to blame each other too much and our schedules.
It’s tricky. Finding that balance was fun and it was very collaborative. It was a tango that we were doing. But of course, with the heat of emotions, there was some blame. I think that breakup showed a lot of maturity on both ends, with how this is, unfortunately, the cards that we’ve been dealt. I remember Justin [Wu], our director, stepping in with great notes and being like, “Look, you guys aren’t breaking up because you’ve fallen out of love with each other. It just purely is not working in your guys’ favor right now, so it’s only fair that you let each other figure it out.”
The traffic in L.A. is a problem for anyone.
BECK: This is true. That would make anyone break up.
If Fans Want a Third ‘Sidelined’ Film, Noah Beck Is Game to Return
"It ends in a place where it leaves people wanting more."

The end of this movie feels like a sad, or at least bittersweet, place to leave a couple at the center of a rom-com, so it feels like there has to be a third film now. Have you had those conversations? What can we do to make this happen?
BECK: Kind of like with the first one, when we finished that one, in my head at least, I put a little bow on it and was like, “All right, I’m happy with that. Now, onto the next.” And then, all of a sudden, you get that call and you’re doing a second. Look, I am open to a third, if people ultimately want that. That’s what it comes down to. If people want a third [film], I think it would be silly not to give them that. And like you said, it ends in a place where it leaves people wanting more, I hope. I would be honored to return for the third time as Drayton.
The story can’t be over until they actually manage to find a way to be together. Otherwise, where’s the romance in that?
BECK: You said it.

The Best Movies to Watch on Tubi Right Now
Totally Tubi!
Posts By Aidan Kelley Aug 1, 2023Are you a fan of inspirational sports movies, and if you are, how did it feel to give that locker room speech before going out for the final game? That seems like the ideal thing you want to do if you’re a sports movie fan.
BECK: Yeah, a hundred percent. Those were the movies that shaped my childhood, to some extent. Being an athlete, and then having my dad as a coach, but also just as a father that wanted the most for me, those movies, I remember vividly. There are so many titles that come to mind, like Miracle, Remember the Titans, Rudy, and all these movies that made me want to be a better athlete. I think a good sports movie does that to someone. It was really cool to be able to stretch that muscle, as an actor, to rally a group of guys in a locker room and be like, “Let’s do this!” I think the whole movie, especially the first one, is very focused on Siena and I’s relationship. It was cool to lean more into the sports dynamic on this one because that’s college. It’s no longer high school. You can’t just go through the motions. If you’re a Division 1 starting quarterback at a school, you need to play that part. Luckily, that wasn’t too far off from my experience as a Division 1 college athlete. It was a different sport, but that same camaraderie was nice to build on screen.
Thank you for talking to me again. Thank you for talking to me about the sequel. I’ll be waiting for the third movie because we have to get this couple back together.
BECK: I think so too.
