By Cole SullivanShareNewsweek is a Trust Project memberThe intensity every time the Ohio State Buckeyes and Michigan Wolverines meet is unmatched, and that was evident in the first quarter, with several big plays setting the tone for the game.
However, while holding a 6-0 lead and with the Buckeyes on the doorstep of scoring, Michigan defender Jaishawn Barham appeared frustrated and headbutted an official, resulting in a penalty.
Despite receiving an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty—his first of the game—Barham was not ejected, even though contact with an official typically warrants immediate removal from the contest.

Moments after the incident, the clip went viral on social media, with college football fans demanding an explanation for why Barham wasn’t ejected.
"Don't know how you aren't thrown out of the game after this move?" A fan said.
Someone else added, "Michigan just head butted the ref and somehow didn’t get ejected?! The Game is NUTS."
"Can’t believe I just watched a Michigan player head butt the Ref and not get ejected. Call me soft but if I’m that Ref he’s gone," another person wrote.
One more fan commented, "How can you head butt an official and not be tossed from the game? I can’t believe what I just saw in the Ohio State-Michigan game."
...As always, a bit of controversy surrounds the matchup, but the Wolverines managed a goal-line stand after the penalty to hold Ohio State to a field goal, ending the quarter with a 6-3 lead. Michigan has now won the last four meetings against the Buckeyes. Ohio State head coach Ryan Day is 1-4 all-time against Michigan, but he turned last year’s loss into a national championship run.
