After suffering a 13-10 defeat at the hands of the Michigan Wolverines last season, Ohio State head coach Ryan Day was asked what lessons he learned from that contest.
“Every season is different, every game is different. You use your past experiences to do everything you can to put your team in a position to be successful, that’s really what it comes down to," he said. “Every year you learn, you grow, this is a different team, this is a different opponent in terms of their personnel, so we are going to do everything we can to win this game and focus on that.”
Day and the Buckeyes eventually went on to win the national title and have a perfect season in the works as Ohio State attempts to stop the losing streak to its bitter rival.

During the opening minutes of Saturday's showdown between the Buckeyes and Wolverines, it was Sherrone Moore's team once again that took the early lead. Michigan scored the first six points of the game and looked to be in control with a dominant defensive effort - just like last season.
However, Ohio State answered with 10 straight points, bolstered by a somewhat controversial touchdown from star wide receiver Jeremiah Smith, who appeared to bobble the ball as he was crossing the goal line.

Michigan fans, of course, believe it should have been ruled as a touchback.
"The @NCAA doesn't even know their own rules. Possession of the ball was lost and Smith never established control back in the field of play. That was a pretty easy one to overturn, but they don't know their own rules," one fan suggested.
"Don't understand why we have ref experts tell the viewers that calls should be overturned and then they aren't. What's the point in checking with then and their expertise if it doesn't matter? First Lions game, now Michigan game," offered another.
"Was not a touchdown. He lost control of the ball and didnt establish control before stepping out of bounds. That was a bad call," added a third.
Michigan went on to add a third field goal on the day to cut Ohio State's lead to 10-9.
