Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany praised his team’s determination after a tough 3–1 win over St. Pauli, highlighting how victories like this boost confidence and team morale:

“Such hard-fought wins are part of a season,” Kompany said. “That gives us confidence in the future that we can win in such situations. Compliments to the boys that they kept going and believed in themselves. We need that over the course of the season.”

The Belgian coach was also asked whether the small squad and busy schedule are starting to take a toll on the team. He acknowledged the challenge but maintained a positive outlook: “I think that's just part of football. Last week we won 6–2, before that we won against PSG. I understand the question because we lost against Arsenal and it wasn't easy today. But as I said, it's part of football. At the end of the day, we distanced Leipzig by another two points, that's important. I don't think it's anything surprising. We also have to appreciate wins like today's.”

Kompany also addressed Bayern’s goalkeeping situation ahead of their upcoming DFB-Pokal match against Union Berlin. “Manu will be back in goal. We didn't have any discussions about a cup keeper. We'll see when we can give Jonas [Urbig] minutes, both of them are aware of that. I don't have a calendar for that, it's about the feeling. We want to continue to push forward Jonas' integration — and at the moment we're happy with him,” he explained.

Highlighting individual performances, Kompany praised Luis Díaz for his creativity and composure under pressure. “Lucho has got a kind of 'chaotic creativity'. He can always do something in chaos. As a defender, I always found it uncomfortable to play against such players because you never know whether you have the ball under control or he has it. He kept his head up while on the ground and played a great pass. He did the exact same move in training yesterday. That's a quality of his.”

The comments underscore Kompany’s satisfaction with the team’s mentality and his measured approach to managing squad rotation amid a congested schedule. Bayern now look to build on the victory as they continue their push for domestic and European success.
