On Saturday, Nov. 29, the LSU Tigers or Ole Miss Rebels are expected to learn if Lane Kiffin will be their head coach for the 2026 season.
The Florida Gators were in the running earlier in the process, but Kiffin is reportedly now down to his current school or leaving for Baton Rouge. After winning the Egg Bowl against Mississippi State on Friday, Kiffin announced his plans to reveal his decision today when he said, "I feel like I've got to," in response to a question about his decision coming on Nov. 29.
"There's a lot [that goes] into it," Kiffin said. "It's a hard decision. You guys have them all the time. You've got to make decisions about jobs you take and where you move, and we get paid a lot, so I understand we're under a lot of spotlight and scrutiny."

If Kiffin leaves for LSU, college football insider Ross Dellenger of Yahoo Sports reported Ole Miss is expected to forbid Kiffin from coaching in the College Football Playoff.
"There does seem to be an ultimatum this week: Sign a lucrative extension with the program or leave immediately for another job. If he chooses to leave, Kiffin is not expected to coach the playoff — a decision that school officials have arrived at over the past several weeks (not such a surprise given Kiffin’s actions up to this point)," Dellenger reported.
After Texas upset Texas A&M on Friday night, Ole Miss has a chance to make the SEC title game with an Alabama loss on Saturday. In the event Ole Miss makes the SEC title game, the school likely wouldn't allow Kiffin to coach - a decision that rubbed former Alabama coach Nick Saban the wrong way.
"What do you do at Ole Miss, when they have never been in the SEC championship game ever and if Alabama's loses they get in the SEC championship game and they're not going to allow Lane to in that game? That's crazy," Saban said on ESPN's "College GameDay."
Kiffin previously revealed he would call Saban and Las Vegas Raiders head coach Pete Carroll for advice on his decision.
