With its third straight victory last week, Clemson became bowl eligible, beating visiting Furman 45-10. The Tigers opened a 31-0 lead in the first half and were never seriously threatened by the FCS Paladins. Cade Klubnik threw for 159 yards and two touchdowns before giving way to the reserves, while Chris Denson ran for 106 yards and a score on just six carries. Both of Antonio Williams’ receptions went for touchdowns, and the defense produced a pair of turnovers.
South Carolina snapped a five-game losing streak last week, taking out its frustrations on visiting Coastal Carolina 51-7. LaNorris Sellers accounted for four touchdowns, completing 16-of-20 passes for 274 yards and two scores while running for 82 yards and two TDs on eight carries. Jayden Sellers caught four balls for 127 yards and a touchdown, and Donovan Murph also had a scoring grab. Brady Hunt scored twice on the ground.
Clemson leads the all-time series 73-44-4, but South Carolina picked up the win last year on the road, 17-14. The home team hasn’t won a Palmetto Bowl game since the Tigers got a 56-35 win in 2018.
