Try something different:
Show me the facts
Explain it like I’m 5
Give me a lighthearted recap
It's fairly safe to assume that many fans of Animal Crossing: New Horizons have already seen the trailer for the upcoming 3.0 update, possibly numerous times by now. There are so many exciting things to look forward to, from the new furniture items and Slumber Islands to a whole resort hotel appearing on our pier. Yet, there are also many little things happening with this update that are stirring up anticipation, too.
This isn't just some small patch to ACNH; all the content being added makes this 3.0 update a really big addition, and one that wasn't even expected. However, even if we had known there would be more things coming, it's doubtful that many players would have expected the more subtle quality-of-life features that will make things so much smoother for everyone.
We Will Be Able To Step To The Side Easily While Designing And Terraforming
Step Easily Along An Axis Without Spinning Around

Yes, that's right, finally, it will be so much easier to simply move how you want to in ACNH. Once version 3.0 is out, players will be able to smoothly step in one direction while terraforming. This means when you're placing fences or removing cliffs, or really any other type of designing, you can slide along a single axis.
Although part of me wishes they had animated it to make our character do the grapevine dance move.
Currently, you have to keep turning your character to walk in the direction you want, and then turn back again to face the spot where you want to put things. This isn't really something that's a big deal, but when you're doing a lot of island creation and terraforming, it can quickly become frustrating.
Truthfully, I don't even want to think about how many times I've put down a path in the wrong spot simply because I was moving too quickly and didn't aim it correctly. This simple change can make those types of mistakes a thing of the past. Although part of me wishes they had animated it to make our character do the grapevine dance move.
This Animal Crossing Feature Is Small But Mighty, Especially With Slumber Islands Coming
It Makes So Much Sense, And Can Make Decorating Smoother
Multiple Players Terraforming On A Slumber Island In Animal Crossing New Horizons
I love to decorate and terraform my island, and thinking about this new style of movement makes me dream of how much easier it will be to do that. But, this change is even more crucial when you take into account that update 3.0 is also giving us three blank slates with the new Slumber Islands to create whatever we want.
The whole point of these Slumber Islands is to allow our creativity to run wild, which includes putting in a lot of time into terraforming and design work. When you're changing that much on an island, the current movement method would be painfully time-consuming and frustrating.
This may not be the flashiest of changes coming to Animal Crossing: New Horizons in the 3.0 update, but I think it will be so much nicer, even if we won't be doing a dance move.
