Bayern Munich sold youngster Nestory Irankunda this summer to Watford, but nested in the deal was a favorable buy-back option for the Bavarians. That’s according to a report from Sport Bild, as captured by @iMiaSanMia_GER:
Bayern has a buy-back clause for Nestory Irankunda of 4.5-5 million €. He was sold to FC Watford in the summer for 3 million €. [Bayern-Insider, @cfbayern, @altobelli13]
Irankunda, 19, caught the eye with his performances for Adelaide in Australia’s A-League before his move to Germany, but spent the 2024/25 season on loan at Grasshopper Club Zurich before leaving for England. He’s playing a fair amount for Watford, though his club is currently floundering in the Championship division and certainly do not appear to be promotion candidates any time soon.

That part — whether Bayern will ever have an opening like this — is a big if. Winger churn is part of the story right now at Bayern, after the departures of Leroy Sané and Kingsley Coman and the arrival of Luis Díaz and promotion of youngster Lennart Karl. Still, the Bavarians are likely to get linked to higher-profile transfers should the need get really glaring.
