Vote for the Gainesville-area high school sports Athlete of the Week for Nov. 18-24

The high school sports season is rapidly unfolding, which means it's once again time for everyone's favorite part of the week: The Gainesville Sun's Athlete of the Week Poll.

Our nomination process is a little different this season. Please click here to see how to nominate. Nominations are due Monday morning, and they can be sent in by anyone — coaches, administrators, friends, family. It is imperative to send in nominations so we can continue to honor the best! Voting for this week closes at noon on Friday.

Alexandra Rossi, Buchholz girls cross country

Highest individual finisher for the Bobcats, which finished in fifth as a team at Class 4A states in Tallahassee.

Alessia Torres, Buchholz girls basketball

Averaging 18.7 PPG through three games.

Andrew Eisner, Oak Hall boys cross country

Highest individual finisher for the Eagles, which finished in fourth as a team at Class 1A states in Tallahassee.

Darius Medley, Oak Hall football

Three rushing touchdowns in the Eagles 27-10 SSAA Class 3A Championship win over Cambridge Christian.

Demetrie Meyers, Buchholz boys cross country

3rd place individual finish and state champions as a team at Class 4A states in Tallahassee.

Derryek Gillins, Hawthorne football

137 yards rushing and four tocuhdowns in the Hornets 30-8 region final win over Williston.

Estella Collante, Oak Hall girls cross country

4th place individual finish and 2nd place team finish at Class 1A states in Tallahassee.

Iyen Addison, Bradford football

115 yards rushing in the Tornadoes 24-14 region semifinal over Berkeley Prep.

Jolan Doty, Chiefland football

Stepped in to replace the injured Matt Goodale for the Indians and threw 110 yards on 9-14 passing and two touchdowns in the 49-19 region final win over Baker.

Justin Williams, Buchholz football

Two touchdowns in the final 12 seconds. Five catches for 131 yards, 20 yards rushing and a pick six in the Bobcats 29-17 region semifinal win over Nease.

Mallory Smith, Newberry girls soccer

Four goals in the Panthers 4-1 win over Oak Hall.

Ryan Leffler, Bell boys soccer

Seven goals through two games in wins over St. Francis Catholic and Interlachen.

Samuel Freas, Buchholz boys cross country

4th place individual finish and state champions as a team at Class 4A states in Tallahassee.
