The high school sports season is rapidly unfolding, which means it's once again time for everyone's favorite part of the week: The Gainesville Sun's Athlete of the Week Poll.

Our nomination process is a little different this season. Please click here to see how to nominate. Nominations are due Monday morning, and they can be sent in by anyone — coaches, administrators, friends, family. It is imperative to send in nominations so we can continue to honor the best! Voting for this week closes at noon on Friday.

137 yards rushing and four tocuhdowns in the Hornets 30-8 region final win over Williston.

Estella Collante, Oak Hall girls cross country

4th place individual finish and 2nd place team finish at Class 1A states in Tallahassee.

Iyen Addison, Bradford football

115 yards rushing in the Tornadoes 24-14 region semifinal over Berkeley Prep.

Jolan Doty, Chiefland football

Stepped in to replace the injured Matt Goodale for the Indians and threw 110 yards on 9-14 passing and two touchdowns in the 49-19 region final win over Baker.

Justin Williams, Buchholz football

Two touchdowns in the final 12 seconds. Five catches for 131 yards, 20 yards rushing and a pick six in the Bobcats 29-17 region semifinal win over Nease.
