Per Rivals' Hayes Fawcett, Sam Utu has officially decommitted from the Alabama Crimson Tide.

A four star recruit, Utu is a talented player that could have been an excellent fit on Alabama's offensive line in the near future. Utu is currently ranked as the No. 76 overall prospect from the 2026 class, as a number of different programs will now more than likely be in the mix the land the future star.

The 6'4", 320 pound lineman is listed as the No. 18 overall interior offensive lineman, per the 247Sports Composite rankings, from his class as well, and the Tide will now turn elsewhere in hopes of filling the void left by the massive lineman.

Utu had been committed to the Crimson Tide since June prior to his departure. The talented lineman chose Alabama over SMU, Tennessee, Texas and Washington, but Utu ultimately had a change in thought and has decided to take his talents elsewhere. A number of talented lineman remain available at the Tide's disposal, but Utu's departure is an extremely unfortunate loss nonetheless.
