The high school basketball season is nearly upon us.

Our preseason coverage for boys' basketball started this week with the annual 'Players to Watch' list. More is in the works, including power rankings and what to know across the area this winter. But who gets the nod for Courier & Press preseason Player of the Year?

This is where you come in. A reminder this will not impact who the All-Metro or All-Southwestern Indiana teams at the end of the season. It's pure bragging rights. This list is also based on potential or what the player has done previously.

Vote as often as you'd like through Sunday at 12 p.m. CT. Here are the 20 nominees with more below the poll.

Dorion Bowen, Bosse: The 6-foot-5 senior guard has multiple Division I scholarship offers. Transfer from Memphis Whitehaven.

Cole Breeden, Mater Dei: The sophomore forward averaged 14.3 points, 6.6 rebounds and 1.9 assists.

Peyton Gray, Heritage Hills: The senior guard averaged 10.7 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.0 assists.

Marrius Harris, Bosse: The senior guard averaged 18.7 points, 5.1 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.6 steals.

Cameron Haywood, Southridge: The senior guard averaged 9.2 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.4 steals.

Edwin Holmes, Princeton: The senior forward averaged 16.7 points, 7.6 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 2.7 blocks.
