LEHIGHTON — A host of mistakes to open the third quarter doomed Lansdale Catholic in its PIAA Class 2A semifinal Friday night against perennial state power Southern Columbia.
Tied at the half, the Tigers scored 17 unanswered points in the third quarter to earn a 24-7 win over the Crusaders.

Southern Columbia (District Four) has 14 PIAA state titles to its name, the most of any program in the state, with the latest coming in 2023.
The Tigers had an unreal run of seven straight state titles from 2017-23. Lansdale Catholic won its only PIAA state title in 2004.

The loss ended the season for the 12-3 Crusaders.

The 14-1 Tigers will face the Farrell/Seton La Salle winner in the PIAA championship game Dec. 5 at Cumberland Valley HS in Mechanicsburg (1 p.m.).
