Nov. 28—PARKSTON, S.D. — A pair of Mitchell-area athletes — Parkston's Keeara Oakley and Burke's Emmie Hausmann — were tabbed as Class B all-state second-team performers, as chosen by the South Dakota Volleyball Coaches Association.

Oakley, a 5-foot-9 middle hitter, powered the Trojans to a Class B state tournament berth and sixth place. During her junior campaign, Oakley finished with 635 kills, 377 digs, 63 blocks and 45 service aces, as Parkston posted a 31-8 record.

Hausmann, the Cougars' 5-foot-11 senior outside hitter, recorded 516 kills, 320 digs and 36 aces during her final season. For her five-year prep career, Hausmann amassed 1,413 kills, 802 digs, 203 aces and 110 total blocks for Burke, which had a 29-7 record this year.

Sharing the Class B all-state second team with Oakley and Hausmann were Gayville-Volin senior libero Taylor Hoxeng, Herreid/Selby Area senior middle hitter Jordyn Rossow, Hitchcock-Tulare senior setter Gracyn Bixler and Wolsey-Wessington senior setter Kendal Uttecht.

Oakley Weber, a junior setter/outside hitter for Bridgewater-Emery, was named Class B honorable mention all-state, as were De Smet senior middle hitter Hazel Luethmers, Ipswich senior outside hitter Marley Guthmiller, Gayville-Volin junior outside hitter Maia Achen, Harding County sophomore middle hitter/setter Kamry Padden and Bennett Counter freshman middle hitter Peyson O'Neill.

The Chester duo of senior setter/outside hitter Lily Van Hal and junior outside hitter/setter Jacy Wolf highlighted the Class B all-state first team for the three-time defending champions and were joined by Northwestern senior middle/outside hitter Ashley Haven, Colman-Egan senior outside hitter Brynlee Landis, Warner sophomore outside hitter Jaycee Jung and Bennett County sophomore middle hitter Reagan O'Neill.

WAGNER — Representing Class A tournament qualifier Wagner on the Class A volleyball all-state second team was junior Ravyn Medricky.

This season, the 6-foot-2 middle hitter collected 336 kills, 381 digs and 64 blocks for the Red Raiders, who completed the season with a 24-10 record.

Medricky shared the second team with Hamlin senior outside hitter Addison Neuendorf, St. Thomas More senior setter Enna Henry, West Central junior setter Cambree Ideker, Sioux Falls Christian sophomore middle hitter Jayla Overman and Clark/Willow Lake freshman middle hitter Shelby Begeman.

Winner senior setter Gracie Root was named an honorable mention Class A all-state pick, with 858 assists this season. Root ended her career with 2,127 assists, 1,128 digs, 115 aces and 126 kills for the Warriors.

Also among the Class A honorable mentions were Dell Rapids junior libero Alaina Wolff, Groton Area senior libero Jerica Locke, Rapid City Christian junior outside hitter/setter Chloe Weber, St. Thomas More junior middle hitter Leighton Scherr, Baltic sophomore outside hitter Tenley Witzel, Lennox sophomore outside hitter Libby Kranz and Madison sophomore outside hitter Jaya Engels.

Class A champion Dakota Valley placed senior outside hitter Claire Munch and junior setter Madelyn Munch on the all-state first team. Joining them were Miller senior libero Jolie Palmer, Rapid City Christian senior outside hitter/setter Faith King, Sioux Falls Christian senior outside hitter Tavyn Sichmeller and Dell Rapids junior outside hitter Madelynn Henry.
