James Cameron has helmed some of the biggest movies of the last 30 years, many of which have set box-office records. The 1997 romantic epic Titanic is arguably Cameron's most popular work, setting a precedent, breaking records, and changing culture. It remains a favorite of many moviegoers, but Titanic has not been in theaters since its 25th anniversary release in 2023. However, the movie is available to stream on many platforms, including the free streaming services Tubi and Pluto TV. According to FlixPatrol, Titanic is one of the most-watched movies currently, peaking at number one on both services. The film has found renewed interest in the U.S.

Hailed as one of — if not the best — romantic films of all time, Titanic tells the epic love story of two unlikely people in an unlikely place. Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet star as Jack Dawson and Rose DeWitt Bukater, two ill-fated lovers aboard the doomed RMS Titanic. When the ship sinks, Jack sacrifices his life for Rose's sake, and several decades later, the discovered wreck reminds Rose of her lost love. Titanic was groundbreaking in more ways than one. It was a technical and creative achievement, evident in the finished product. The movie grossed over a billion dollars worldwide, a feat unheard of at the time. It also cemented DiCaprio as one of the best and most popular actors of our time. Other cast members include Billy Zane, Kathy Bates, Frances Fisher, Victor Garber, and others.

What Else Is James Cameron Working On Currently?

The venerable director has been involved in another record-breaking endeavor, the Avatar film franchise. Following the success of Titanic, Cameron launched the science-fiction franchise Avatar, which earned wide acclaim. Each movie has topped the last, with the third film set to bow in theaters on December 19. The new saga features fresh trouble for Pandora as the conflict escalates. Avatar: Fire and Ash reunites Cameron with Winslet, with whom he worked in Titanic and Avatar: The Way of the Water. Cameron is also expected to return for the two planned Avatar sequels.

Franchise vets Sam Worthington (Jake Sully), Zoe Saldaña (Neytiri), Sigourney Weaver (Kiri), Stephen Lang (Colonel Miles Quaritch), and Joel David Moore (Dr. Norm Spellman) return. They're joined by Oona Chaplin (Varang), Cliff Curtis (Tonowari), CCH Pounder (Mo'at), Edie Falco (General Francis Ardmore), David Thewlis (Peylak), Jemaine Clement (Dr. Ian Garvin), Giovanni Ribisi (Parker Selfridge), Britain Dalton (Lo'ak), Jamie Flatters (Neteyam), Trinity Jo-Li Bliss (Tuk), Jack Champion (Spider), Brendan Cowell (Captain Mick Scoresby), Bailey Bass (Tsireya), Filip Geljo (Aonung), and Duane Evans, Jr. (Rotxo).

Titanic is available to stream on Tubi and Pluto TV in the US. Avatar: Fire and Ash opens in theaters on December 19. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates.
