MIAMI GARDENS — It’s Year 2 for Sun Sentinel Dolphins columnist Chris Perkins and Dolphins writer David Furones picking prop bets, which they’ll do for all 17 regular-season games.
Prior to each game, Furones and Perkins will select a “Best Bet” and a “Longshot.” The “Best Bet” selection is a near 50-50 proposition while the “Longshot” is at least +300 or a 3-to-1 probability.

Furones is 7-4 on his “Best Bets” while Perk is 2-9. On the “Longshot,” Furones, who hit on both predictions from the Dolphins’ win over the Washington Commanders in Spain, is 4-7 while Perk is 1-10.
Perkins and Furones use the Hard Rock Bet app for odds. Be sure to check the South Florida Sun Sentinel predictions for Sunday’s outlook.
Perk’s Best Bet: De’Von Achane 20+ Q1 rush yards (+100)You’ve got to figure the Dolphins continue with their run-first mentality, which would mean opportunities for Achane. The Saints are 21st in run defense (123.5 yards per game) and the Dolphins’ offensive line is playing well. This all makes sense.

Tagovailoa has thrown a league-leading 13 interceptions and has been intercepted in seven of 11 games this season. So the math tells you this is the way to go. The Saints’ No. 9 pass defense has capable players in the secondary, like cornerback Kool-Aid McKinstry and safety Justin Reid, along with pass rushers that can pressure the Dolphins QB into a bad decision. Miami has also emphasized to Tua that deep shots on third-and-long, even if well-covered, can be worth taking if the team would just be punting on four down anyway. So he may throw one, like he did twice against Buffalo, that’s just a result of taking a well-intentioned chance.
Furones got the “Best Bet” victory last time out in Madrid, with Achane hitting the over on rushing yards against the Commanders. Perk just needed Tua Tagovailoa to rush for more than 1.5 yards, and he did not.

Washington is a talented player and you could see him getting into the end zone from scrimmage with the Saints likely to pay special attention to players such as RBs De’Von Achane, Ollie Gordon II and WR Jaylen Waddle.
Furones’ Longshot: Devin Neal 6+ receptions (+650)Consider this: The backup RB had four of his five catches on seven targets last week against the Falcons come in the second half once Alvin Kamara had been ruled out with his knee injury. Kamara’s out, meaning Neal will get a full game of this level of activity, and I believe the Saints will be playing from behind and passing. QB Tyler Shough will take some easy dumpoffs as safe plays when coverage is on point downfield.
