After beating Inter in this season’s first Derby della Madonnina, AC Milan welcome Lazio at San Siro this weekend in an attempt to pile the pressure on Serie A leaders Roma.

Milan sealed a narrow 1-0 victory over their neighbourhood rivals Inter in their previous outing, thanks to Mike Maignan’s heroics, who saved a Hakan Calhanoglu penalty, and Christian Pulisic’s second-half goal. The win extended the Rossoneri’s unbeaten run to 12 consecutive games and in second place in the league standings, just two points away from leaders Roma, who play on Sunday.

Massimiliano Allegri would be jubilant to see his side back on track for potential Scudetto glory, although he has reiterated on several occasions that his objective is to finish top four. This is set to be a key weekend for Milan as they can end up as table toppers with a win as the Giallorossi face a tough task against Napoli.

Meanwhile, Lazio come into this match on the back of a 2-0 victory over Lecce, where goals from Matteo Guendouzi and Tijjani Noslin helped the side return to winning ways.

After a slow start to the new season, the Biancocelesti were undergoing a resurgence in form until they were stopped by the Nerazzurri in a 2-0 defeat. With five wins, three draws, and four losses this campaign, Lazio have acquired 18 points across the board as they sit in eighth place in the Serie A table behind Juventus.

Despite being a long way from a top-four challenge, Maurizio Sarri deserves the credits for navigating the club through a tough situation where they have been banned from making transfers.
