First lady Melania Trump has launched her own film production company, Muse Films, announcing the move alongside news of a high-profile documentary focused on her life and role in the White House.

The film, titled MELANIA, is scheduled for global theatrical release on January 30, 2026. "PRESENTING: MUSE FILMS. My new production company," Trump posted on X, formerly Twitter. "MELANIA, the film, exclusively in theaters worldwide on January 30th, 2026."

The announcement, made on Friday on social media, marks her most significant solo venture since returning to the national spotlight as first lady in 2025.

Why It Matters

In an earlier appearance on Fox & Friends, Trump described the project as an intimate look at her responsibilities and private life. The film was acquired by Amazon MGM Studios for a reported $40 million, one of the largest known licensing deals for a political documentary. It will also have a limited theatrical run before debuting on Amazon’s streaming platform, Prime Video.

What To Know

Promotional materials indicate the film centers on the 20 days leading up to the 2025 presidential inauguration. It reportedly follows Melania Trump’s behind-the-scenes role as she prepares the inauguration, organizes the First Lady’s office and guides her family back into public life ahead of Donald Trump’s return to the White House.

The documentary will also feature appearances by the president and their son, Barron.

The project is directed by Brett Ratner, whose Hollywood career stalled after sexual misconduct allegations, which he has denied. Trump is credited as an executive producer, though it remains unclear whether Muse Films was directly involved in the documentary’s production or if it will mainly serve as a branding vehicle for future projects.

The licensing deal sparked political commentary, especially over the motives of Amazon and its founder, Jeff Bezos, whose media empire includes The Washington Post—a frequent target of Donald Trump during his first term.

According to reporting from The Wall Street Journal shortly after the deal was leaked, Trump was expected to earn $28 million from it, and as of February she was still exploring additional ways to monetize the project.

The documentary isn’t Amazon’s only deal with the Trumps this year. On March 10, the company announced that Prime Video will start streaming The Apprentice, the reality show led by Donald Trump during his business years.

What People Are Saying

Trump during an interview with Fox & Friend on October: "We started the production in November, and we are shooting right now, so it’s a day-to-day life, what I’m doing, what kind of responsibilities I have."

An Amazon Spokesperson said in a statement: "We are excited to share this truly unique story with our millions of customers around the world."

What Happens Next

The film will be released in the U.S. exclusively in theaters on Friday, January 30, 2026, according to an October announcement from Amazon MGM Studios.
