2025 was a banner year for manga, and now fans have an official ranking of which series sold the most volumes in 2025. While the biggest winners won't be a surprise to anyone who's been watching the medium closely, the numbers are still proof positive of just how big manga is.
According to Japanese ranking site Oricon, One Piece volume #111 ended up taking the top spot with 1,370,154 volumes sold. Following close behind it are the last two volumes of Jujutsu Kaisen, One Piece volume #112, and My Hero Academia rounding out the top 5.

Japan's Top 10 Manga Still Mostly Dominated By Shonen Jump
Protagonists from different Shonen Jump series
Though it's hardly surprising given the magazine's ubiquity, Oricon's top manga rankings are absolutely dominated by Weekly Shonen Jump and its publisher, Shueisha.
Of the top 10 manga, only the Apothecary Diaries, all the way at #10, is not published by Shueisha.
While that makes the publisher appear basically unstoppable, what will be telling is Oricon's 2026 rankings.
My Hero Academia and Jujutsu Kaisen both ended in 2024, and though the latter may get propped up again in 2026 by the release of Jujutsu Kaisen season 3, My Hero Academia's anime is ending in a matter of weeks.
Luckily, even if the two hit shonen series slide off the top 10, Shueisha will still have One Piece, SPY x FAMILY, and Kingdom, in addition to newer manga that are making a splash, such as Kagurabachi.
Whether these newer series will be able to replace the old guard or not remains to be seen. But regardless of what happens with Shueisha's manga dominance, what's clear is the state of the industry.
Manga Is In an Incredibly Healthy Place in 2025
The sales numbers for manga in 2025 paint a fairly rosy picture of where the manga industry is in. While Oricon only counts Japanese sales, that makes the numbers even more impressive.
The fact that four individual manga volumes sold above 1 million copies is a staggering figure, showing just how dominant the art form is in Japan.
While many probably guessed that One Piece and Jujutsu Kaisen would take the top spot for manga volumes sold in 2025, it will be curious to see what the manga environment looks like in 2026.
