Florida is out of the Lane Kiffin sweepstakes, per a report from Gators Online's Zach Abolverdi.
Abolverdi's report dropped moments before the Egg Bowl, where Lane Kiffin's Ole Miss squad is facing Mississippi State. Kiffin has dominated coaching carousel headlines in recent weeks as LSU and Florida made Kiffin a top priority. Meanwhile, Ole Miss is fighting to keep Kiffin.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementThe Kiffin saga has reached a fever pitch. As the situation grew awkward in Oxford, Ole Miss AD Keith Carter released a statement saying an announcement on Kiffin's future would come after the Egg Bowl. That didn't do much to quiet the noise this week as Kiffin's future remained the first topic of discussion in Oxford, Baton Rouge, and Gainesville.
If Kiffin is indeed out of the picture at Florida, that's good news for LSU. That means Kiffin's choice is between staying at Ole Miss or leaving for LSU.
Abolverdi's report was later echoed by On3's Chris Low and Pete Nakos.
Last week, ESPN's Pete Thamel reported that LSU was viewed as the biggest threat to poach Kiffin from Ole Miss.
