Earlier this year, it was confirmed that PBS favorite Grantchester would be coming to an end after its eleventh season. Following over a decade of delighting audiences with crime-solving in the gorgeous British countryside, the show will be laid to rest despite the outrage from die-hard fans. Robson Green will return as Geordi Keating for one final time in the eleventh outing, alongside the likes of Al Weaver as Leonard Finch, Tessa Peake-Jones as Mrs. C, Kacey Ainsworth as Cathy Keating, and Oliver Dimsdale as Daniel Marlowe, with an official release date not yet known.
But amid the bad news, there has been some good news for Grantchester lovers: the series will officially join Netflix on December 1, 2025. With a chance to binge their favorite detective drama on the world's biggest platform ahead of Season 11, Grantchester fans are in for a festive season packed with crime-solving, and they can also hope that, should the series prove immensely popular on its new home, a future might be back on the cards. At the time of the series' cancellation, series writer, creator, and executive producer, Daisy Coulam, said in a statement:
"At its heart,Grantchester is a show about the power of friendship and love. We’ve been so lucky over the last 11 series to experience that on and off screen. For over a decade now – cast and crew (many who’ve been there since the beginning) have met each summer to film. And it’s been an absolute joy. Thank you to James Runcie for entrusting us with his characters. Thank you to the lovely people of real Grantchester. Thank you to everyone who’s been a part of the show in any way – big or small. I’ll miss you terribly."
What Else Joins Netflix This December?
Grantchester's Netflix arrival isn't the only exciting addition as part of next month's streaming revolving door. Joining the detective series are the likes of the 2003 comedy Cheaper by the Dozen and its inventively titled sequel Cheaper by the Dozen 2, the gorgeous British period drama Victoria, the faith-driven drama War Room, the Jodie Foster-directed Money Monster, the cozy festive romance flick Holiday in Santa Fe, James Gunn's horror spin on the superhero origin story, Brightburn, and much more.
Grantchester will join Netflix this December 1, following its recent cancellation. For the latest updates on the newest streaming arrivals, stay tuned to Collider.
