Each week, Vols Wire revisits a game between Tennessee and its upcoming opponent. Tennessee defeated Vanderbilt, 28-10, at Neyland Stadium on Nov. 30, 2019. The Vols' win was later vacated due to NCAA sanctions.

Tennessee led, 21-3, at halftime after trailing, 3-0.

Jarrett Guarantano completed 6-of-17 passing attempts for 120 yards, one touchdown and one interception for the Vols. Eric Gray led Tennessee in rushing yards (246) and scored three touchdowns.

Jauan Jennings totaled two receptions and led the Vols with 56 receiving yards. With three minutes, six seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, he was involved in an altercation with an opposing player and committed a flagrant personal foul, determined by a video review from the SEC office on Dec. 4, 2019.

Officials did not flag Jennings on the play during the game.

The altercation resulted in the Tennessee wide receiver being suspended for the first half of the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl versus Indiana due to the SEC's ruling.

Former Tennessee director of athletics Phillip Fulmer did not appeal Jennings' suspension.

“Commissioner (Greg) Sankey shared his perspective on the actions in question, we had a long conversation about the matter, and we will honor the suspension," Fulmer said. "Jauan has been nothing but outstanding for our team and program this entire season."

David Smith was the referee for the Tennessee-Vanderbilt game in 2019. Rodney Lawary (umpire), Tim Sistrunk (linesman), Michael Taylor (line judge), Paul Schardein (back judge), Allan Nicholson (field judge), Alex Moore (side judge) and Ed Allbritton (center judge) were also officials for the game.
