The New Orleans Saints made a roster move this week that confirmed the Denver Broncos got the best of them yet again.
The Saints cut kicker Blake Grupe on Tuesday. They originally signed him as an undrafted free agent out of Notre Dame in 2023. After adding Grupe, New Orleans later agreed to trade incumbent Wil Lutz to the Broncos for a mere seventh-round draft pick.

He leads the NFL with four game-winning field goals this fall and is signed through the 2028 season. Grupe, meanwhile, will look for a fresh start elsewhere after being cut by the Saints.
It's clear that Denver's front office trade won the Lutz trade in 2023. Earlier this year, the Broncos also traded wide receiver Devaughn Vele to New Orleans in exchange for fourth- and seventh-round draft picks. At some point, the Saints might have to just rule out making deals with Denver general manager George Paton, because the Broncos keep winnning them.
