In Thursday’s ACC Action, BYU whacked Miami 72-62, Michigan State smote UNC 74-58, Saint Mary’s got Virginia Tech 77-66 and Stanford took down Minnesota 72-68.
Miami actually did pretty well. BYU, most would agree, is on a higher level than the ‘Canes. Yet they hung in there. Miami kept up with a much more talented team for about 15 minutes, which is better than we saw last year (what an understatement- the ‘Canes were awful last year).

For Miami, Malik Reanu had 14, Shelton Henderson 13 and Tre Donaldson 12. Miami has weaknesses, but that’s a solid team. They might be a year away but Jai Lucas has things on track. Look at it this way: the Hurricanes were not that far from beating a Top Ten team.
UNC couldn’t do it either, losing to Michigan State by 16.
We weren’t able to watch this game but it’s easy to understand what happened: Michigan State played harder and tougher than UNC and Jeremy Fears dominated at point guard.
Fears shot 8-10, with 5 rebounds and 7 assists.
Michigan State also clamped down on UNC’s Caleb Wilson. Wilson racked up 18 points but did so with just 6-13 shooting.

Needless to say, the beauty of X account ICMeltdown is pretty off the charts. You should definitely take a look at that.
If you don’t know, Saint Mary’s is a tough out and it’s no surprise that Virginia Tech lost to the Gaels.
Same basic story as UNC: Saint Mary’s defended well, Virginia Tech shot poorly and that was pretty much the story. Former Blue Devils Jaden Schutt bucked the trend here, hitting 5-10/4-8, racking up 17 points.
Finally, Stanford beat Minnesota to move to 5-1. Freshman star Ebuka Okorie hit for 25 points. Benny Gealer chipped in 14.
Former Tar Heel Cade Tyson continues his renaissance with 19 points. Tyson couldn’t get off the bench in Chapel Hill but is now averaging 21.8 ppg and shooting 52.9%. This again raises questions about howe well Hubert Davis understands the players he pursues because Tyson
