Scotland suffered their first defeat at the Emerging Nations Trophy, falling short by 27 runs to the Netherlands.

Despite losing their 100% record, the Scots sit top of the table going into their final group match against host nation Thailand.

The Netherlands join Thailand and United Arab Emirates on four wins and two defeats after a starring knock of 55 not out from Sterre Kalis.

Rachel Slater took the first of three wickets in the first over but Phebe Molkenboer (32) and Robine Rijke (27) helped Kalis steer the Dutch to 148-7 from their 20 overs.

Scotland lost Darcey Carter after just four balls of their response, but Katherine Fraser (39) and skipper Sarah Bryce (31) kept the scoreboard ticking over.

Momentum was lost following their departures in the 10th and 12th overs respectively and when Megan McCall was out for 19, Scotland were on 104-4 with four overs remaining.

Four more wickets tumbled as the Dutch wrapped up a comfortable victory, with bowler Iris Zwilling adding Chloe Abel and Slater to her victims after taking out dangerous opener Carter.
