The Carolina Panthers, for the first time in over two years, were given a chance to flex their muscles under the national spotlight. Unfortunately, however, they came out a bit wimpy.
Here are our studs and duds from Monday night's 20-9 loss to the San Francisco 49ers:

Canales' call to pass on a first-and-goal from the 1-yard line in the first quarter resulted in an interception and set the tone for a frustrating offensive showing. He'd also go on to call just nine rushing attempts on the night.
Dud: QB Bryce Young
Young wasn't absolutely atrocious, but he wasn't really good either. He completed 18 of his 29 throws for 169 yards, a score and two interceptions.
Studs: RB Rico Dowdle and Chuba Hubbard
The backfield duo did what they could with the limited opportunities they got.
Dowdle rushed for 38 yards on six totes (6.3 per attempt) and reeled in four passes for a team-leading 36 receiving yards. Hubbard ran for 16 yards on three carries (5.3 per attempt) and added 27 more yards on four receptions of his own.

McMillan dropped a pair of passes, continuing his issues with ball security. He did notch the only touchdown of the game on a 29-yarder from Young, but finished with just one other catch for six yards.
Dud: WR Xavier Legette
Speaking of continuing issues, Legette still exhibits worrisome field awareness. He had a pretty big 14-yard first-down catch in the fourth quarter erased by an illegal touching penalty, as he stepped out of bounds before coming back to the ball.
Stud: CB Jaycee Horn
Horn, before exiting with a concussion, picked off quarterback Brock Purdy on the 49ers' second and fourth possessions of the game. He's up to a career-high five interceptions on the campaign.
